CARDIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST

Ramon EstrellaRamon Estrella
Instructor, CAT Diploma Program

Ramon has worked as a cardiology technologist for the past 25 years, and is an active member of the Cardiology Technologists Associations of B.C., and the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists. He began his career in education as an Educational Coordinator with the CTABC, and has been teaching the Cardiology Technologist program at Stenberg College for the past five years. Ramon feels an intrinsic sense of satisfaction when his students successfully pass the program and receive their certification. He feels Cardio Techs play a vital role in the healthcare industry, as they are often the first point of contact for patients with heart problems and help to ‘unlock the mystery of the heart.' In his spare time, Ramon enjoys travelling and playing classic guitar.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER

Evelyn PhaneufEvelyn Phaneuf
Instructor, CSW Diploma Program

Evelyn has been teaching at Stenberg College for almost 20 years, and cites the incredible team and enthusiastic atmosphere for her tenure. After working as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Evelyn wanted to share her knowledge and passion for health care with others. She finds teaching the Community Support Worker Diploma Program particularly gratifying, as her students move on to assist and support those with developmental and/or mental disabilities to live their best life. Evelyn is a registered member of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR

Pat BatesPat Bates
Instructor, ECE Certificate Program

Pat has been involved in the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) field for 26 years, 16 of which she has spent teaching. After years of working in and operating her own childcare facility, she developed an interest in best preparing students to enter the field, leading her to instructing. She feels ECE students at Stenberg College have a unique experience with small class sizes and a broad range of student support services. She notes that a career as an ECE is an excellent career choice, not only because of the job opportunities, but also due to the rewarding nature of the work. Pat holds her ECE Certification, Montessori A.M.I Certification, and Instructor Education Certificate.

Wendy ScottWendy Scott
Instructor, NUC Diploma Program

As a Stenberg College Nursing Unit Clerk Program graduate, we are proud to have Wendy on board as an instructor. Prior to this, Wendy has worked both as a nursing unit clerk, and a Clinical Monitor. A talented artist, Wendy discovered her desire to teach over 10 years ago as a painting instructor. She finds working with students an ongoing adventure, and is thrilled when they cross the finish line and become successful graduates. Wendy is currently a member of the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators, Society of Decorative Artists, and holds her Teaching Certification. A woman of many talents, Wendy also holds her private pilot's license.

Dishy BanipalDishy Banipal
Instructor, PN Diploma Program

Dishy values the continuous learning experience teaching provides her. An instructor at Stenberg College for the past four years, she enjoys interacting with students and contributing to the development of future nurses. Dishy holds her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is enhancing her professional development by pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia. She is certified in Neonatal CPR and First Aid, and holds her breastfeeding counselor certificate. Dishy is a member of the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia.

Nishi BasraNishi Basra
Instructor, PN Diploma Program

Nishi has been a Registered Nurse for sixteen years, and holds diverse experience working in areas such as gerontology, general medicine, short stay surgery, and disease control. Nishi is proud of the supportive learning environment Stenberg College provides their students, and takes great satisfaction in seeing her students achieve their educational objectives. In her spare time, she manages her son's soccer team and is President of the Davinder Basra Memorial Foundation, which raises funds for the BC Cancer Agency. An active member of her son's Parent Advisory Committee, she has served as vice-president for the past three years.

A Licensed Practical Nurse, Rose has been instructing at Stenberg College for over 2 years. She feels tremendous pride watching her students learn and grow as professionals. Rose thrives on watching her students become wonderful nurses, and feels a sense of fulfillment being part of their educational journey. She believes the abundant career opportunities, coupled with the ability to develop personally and professionally, make nursing an excellent career choice.

PSYCHIATRIC NURSING

Dr. Jacqollyne KeathDr. Jacqollyne Keath
Dean of Nursing

Previously serving as Executive Director/Registrar for the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia, Dr. Keath has also served on the CRPNBC Board of Directors and on several College committees. She has played a significant role in developing the first baccalaureate degree programs in psychiatric nursing in British Columbia ?two of only three such programs in Canada. Dr. Keath's academic credentials include diplomas in both psychiatric nursing and registered nursing, a bachelor's in music, a master of hypnotherapy degree and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Southwest University. She is currently working on advanced studies in Natural Medicine with the Global College of Natural Medicine (GCNM). Dr. Keath brings to the role of Dean a wealth of work experience in psychiatric nursing, including a background in independent practice and previous employment in positions encompassing all the domains of the profession: clinical practice, administration, education and research.

Practice Education and Curriculum Manager
Kim holds her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Diplomas in both General Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing. She feels psychiatric nursing is a rewarding field that helps to bring hope to those with mental illness and assists them to enrich their lives. Kim has always enjoyed the academia of the teaching and learning environment, and finds the drive and dedication of her students to be the most rewarding aspect of her job.

Kim Bagshaw
Marita Molloy
Instructor, RDPN Diploma Program

After completing her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Victoria in 1991, Marita moved to Vancouver and earned her Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing in 1994. She brings with her a wealth and depth of psychiatric nursing knowledge from her more than twenty years of clinical psychiatric nursing experience. Her varied and rich professional career has included Detox; Community Mental Health; Neuropsychiatry; Acute Psychiatry; Mood Disorders; Co-Occurring Mental Illness and Substance Use; Residential Living and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Marita discovered her passion for education and gift for teaching when she joined the team at Stenberg as an online instructor in the Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing program in 2010. Marita instructs a variety of theory courses for the RDPN program and is involved with other areas such as curriculum development. She also works as an independently contracted travel nurse. She is currently completing a Master of Science in Thanatology and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their Norwich Terrier, Tex.

Jandy Sertic
Program Advisor

Jandy finds working in the education sector highly rewarding. In particular, she enjoys guiding mature students through the process of going back to school and seeing their career potential realized. Her fondest moments working at Stenberg College are during the graduation ceremonies, where student's hard work is recognized. She is proud to work for a school that is committed to providing quality education and support services to their students.

Nina Appanah
Program Advisor

Nina came to Stenberg in 2010 with 10 years of experience in the education field. Prior to Stenberg, she completed her B.Sc and M.S.Ed. At Stenberg she enjoys meeting people and helping them find the right program for their career goals. She believes in the supportive staff, faculty and learninig environment that Stenberg offers. Nina finds it rewarding to help others, and really appreciates the Stenberg initiatives that help charities, such as our basket raffles.

Cheryl Knorr
E-Advisor

As our E-Advisor, Cheryl is the first point of contact for many prospective students. She greatly enjoys discussing career options with future students and helping them discover the program that matches their career objectives. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Simon Fraser University, Cheryl one day hopes to pursue her Masters Degree in Urban Planning. In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her family and snowboarding.

Natasha Howarth
Program Advisor

Natasha’s career truly has come full circle as she is back in the school where she attended – this time as a staff member. She was a successful student in the NUC program over 11 years ago and was the first Stenberg student to be hired by Provincial Health at the BC Cancer Agency. Natasha returns to Stenberg as an E-Advisor and helps guide and inform prospective students to find and fulfill their own career aspirations. Her 10 years of experience in the health care industry makes her a natural fit to advise students, as she is very familiar with the roles that Stenberg students intend to fill. She believes in lifelong learning and is proud to be a part of an organization that supports that philosophy and encourages growth.


Trina Kaur
Financial Aid Officer

Trina joined the Stenberg team in 2010. Trina earned her B.S. Degree in Business Administration with double concentration in International Business and Finance and graduated with Academic Honors. Trina enjoys working in the education industry helping others better themselves through a rewarding career. Trina's easy-going and cheery disposition makes her very approachable and just as well as she loves helping people.

Dan Kibke
IT & Facilities Manager

Dan brings over 13 years of experience providing network and desktop support in the education sector. He is trained in audio engineering, video production and multi-media. Beyond providing daily support to instructors and administrators, he also provides technical support for Stenberg's Online program. In his spare time he is a sound manipulator interested in improvisation, electronics, audio, video, bio-feedback systems, synthesis, field recording photocells and contact microphones. In addition to sound art he is an ardent photographer and urban explorer with an inclination towards industrial ruins.

Darlene has been working in education for over 15 years and joined Stenberg College in 2003. She works with Stenberg’s industry partners to ensure quality placements and foster relationships. Her most memorable experience was attending her first Stenberg graduation, where she was moved by the impact of quality education had on student’s lives.Darlene is the Manager, Chorographer and Teacher for the Silver Diamond Country Dance Team whereas they perform in local parades and fund raisers.

Jag Tak
Practice Education Faculty and Student Manager
Jag is the Practice Education Faculty and Student Manager and comes from a background of nursing, monitoring students and teaching classes. He’s able to blend the unique set of skills from 15 years of nursing experience, 5+ yrs of instructing and education in Business Management into his role as PE Manager. Jag himself is pursuing his Business Management Degree and has completed the Foundations of Exceptional Teaching Level 3 certificate, which was delivered by Stenberg College. He notes that Stenberg has given him the opportunities for professional development in an environment that aligns with his values and ethics. His fondest Stenberg moments are watching his students walk across the stage during graduation and beginning the next chapter of their lives.



Tammy Quan
Industry Relations Manager
Tammy's background is in healthcare, as she was a graduate of Stenberg College's Nursing Unit Clerk Program. After working full-time in healthcare for several years, she joined Stenberg staff in Career & Alumni Services. She is now the Industry Relations Manager of a growing team that oversees both Industry Relations and Career & Alumni Services.

Tabatha Patterson
Career & Alumni Services Administrator

Tabatha joined the Career and Alumni Services team in 2012. She has a longstanding interest in career counselling and her role in helping students and alumni with finding career success has been very rewarding. Tabatha particularly finds the opportunities to learn, collaborate and create especially gratifying. She graduated from SFU with an Arts degree in Psychology and Counselling & Human Development. Her most memorable moment at Stenberg was her first time to teach a class – the student has now become the teacher!

Susanne Pywell
Practice Education Placement Requirements Administrator

Susanne has been with Stenberg for over 4 years and has a background in Legal and administrative work. She began as the Faculty Assistant then moved into Student Services before her current role as Prerequisites Assistant with the Practice Education team. She enjoys spending time with student, especially during Campus Life events and with Student Council. The various Campus Life events are especially memorable for Susanne, specifically the Ultimate Canucks Fan event. She looks forward to participating in more of these events in the future.

Coreen McLaren
Academic Manager

Coreen has been a member of the administration team at Stenberg College since June 2007. She currently holds a diploma in Business Administration, and is currently working on her Business Management and Leadership Diploma. Since Coreen has graduated from a private college she knows first-hand the feeling of accomplishment and strives to help others reach their goals.

Sharron has only been with Stenberg for a short time, but already has made a big impact in our students’ lives. She received her education from Okanagan University College in Penticton and has a background in student support and career services, having given workshops in Communications, Problem Solving and Job Wave. Already in her short time with Stenberg she has commended the students for being particularly determined and passionate about their education as well as the staff for welcoming her so warmly into school.

Tammy Rutledge has been with Stenberg since early 2012 and brings to the organization a strong background in Human Resources and a passion for life-long learning. She encourages staff and faculty at Stenberg to continue their professional and personal development. Her favourite moments include the social functions, especially the holiday party.

Jeremy Sabell
President
With over fifteen years of experience in the education field and over ten years working for Stenberg College, Jeremy is well versed in all aspects of private education. It is his sincere belief that the team at Stenberg are here because they enjoy working together toward the common goal of helping people enrich their lives through higher education. He finds his own role both fulfilling and challenging as Stenberg continuously strives to improve their operation in order to keep current with the ever-changing education environment. His most memorable moment at Stenberg College was witnessing the first Student of the Year receive her tuition reimbursement, an annual event that makes him proud to work for an institution that places students first.

 

Gary Karbar
Director of Operations
Gary has been working in the Post-Secondary education sector for over a decade now and has an extensive background in Human Resources and Operations. A graduate from Simon Fraser University’s Business Administration program, Gary believes education is a life-long learning process that adds immense value to both the individual and society. In his spare time, Gary enjoys snowboarding during the winter months and golfing during the summer. His most memorable moments working for Stenberg College is partaking in the graduation ceremonies, where students' hard work is realized.

An experienced educator and HR professional who is skilled in leadership development, people management and empowerment, performance and project management, developing career path opportunities, training / facilitation / coaching / mentoring, and event and volunteer management. Jacquie has expertise in overseeing operations of learning environments (in-class, online and combined delivery), as well as designing and delivering programs, course, workshops, employee/student orientations and wellness programs. Jacquie joined the Stenberg team in 2003. Jacquie's knowledge and passion for education provide immense value to her role as Director of Educational Delivery. She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. She feels people are empowered through education, and is proud to be part of an organization that strives to provide students with the tools they need to be successful after graduation. Jacquie is a member of the BC HRMA..

Wendy Turnbull
Director of Industry Relations

Wendy has been with Stenberg for over 12 years. With education and front-line experience in health care as a Health Unit Coordinator, she is particularly effective in relating to multiple stakeholders. She places a large value on quality education and takes great satisfaction in working with Stenberg’s industry partners to develop programs that directly meet and exceed their needs. She finds it especially rewarding to know that Stenberg is making a difference. Her most memorable moment was watching the first group of Hospital Support Specialists graduate and be successfully employed.

Karm is our Director of Admissions at Stenberg. She has been with Stenberg since 1996. She enjoys guiding and supporting students in reaching their career goals, especially those who are returning to school after a long time out of the academic environment. Her stay at Stenberg can be accredited partially to her admiration to the passion and drive of the Stenberg team and their support of students to reach success. Karm’s most memorable moment, like other staff members, is watching her students (many of whom she has never met) walk across the stage at graduation and seeing the pride in their families’ faces.
