PCTIA is the regulatory agency for private training institutions in the province of BC. For the past 20 years, Stenberg College has been dedicated to education that uses the most current industry techniques and methods so that students enter the market with relevant sought-after skills. In direct consultation with the professional community, Stenberg College develops programs that are targeted at meeting industry demands for certain skill sets, thereby giving our graduates the highest possible opportunity for employment and success. Stenberg College offers a wide range of health care and human services programs and has a job placement rate of over 96% in area of study within 6 months of graduation. This placement rate speaks to the fact that we deliver programs that have strong prospects for employment and demonstrates our commitment to working closely with industry in developing programs that are in high demand. Stenberg College was originally established by Mary Jane Stenberg in 1990. In 2003, The Education Company Inc. (TEC), acquired Stenberg College. TEC was established in 2003 by an experienced group of educators who founded and operated Center for Digital Imaging and Sound from 1979 to 2003. TEC is a value-based organization that believes in high quality education, student satisfaction and industry-relevant facilities. TEC believes in empowering people through education and aims to be best in the world at delivering timely holistic educational environments to targeted markets. In addition to Stenberg College, TEC manages a number of other educational institutions in BC and across Canada which include the Centres for Arts and Technology (with campuses in Kelowna, Fredericton (NB), Halifax (NS)), the Centre for Trades & Technology in Surrey, and The Education Company College of Health Care, College of Management in Halifax (NS). In 2005 TEC acquired The International School of Nursing and Health Studies (ISNHS) which was approved to offer programs by the College of Registered Nurses of BC, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC and the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of BC. ISNHS was merged with Stenberg College in early 2006. This consolidation has allowed for efficiencies in education, marketing, admissions, industry relations and management. A Regional Psychiatric Nursing (RPN) Program was also launched in 2006 in multiple rural centres in BC. The introduction of the RPN Program was particularly significant in that was the first online education program offered by Stenberg College.
