Into our Practicum placement – the finish line is in sight!

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by once again to my blog page for the CSW program. The first of many visits, I hope!

So here we are on our second week of our practicum and we have 4 weeks to go!! How exciting!! This practicum is full-time work for 5 days a week whereas our in-field experience during our classroom time was just one day a week for 15 weeks. So far from speaking to the rest of the class they are all happy with their placements. We were happy to be able to choose our placements as well. I was happy to see half the class periodically at other events that get held around the community. It was definitely nice but we were all so busy with our own team that it was only a quick “hi” and “bye”.

The other great thing about this program is that when you’re out in the field, you see familiar faces at different organizations and events so it is a great place to network for future work prospects or even to make new friends with similar interests. After all we are in this same field for reason, so why not share some history to relate and move forward together.

Seeing that we are on our second week, time is going by really fast and I cannot believe our last day is coming soon. The fact that we are close to our end, we need to be more focused on landing a job now as time is going by really quickly. So this is one of my goals: to find a job with either my current society or a related one. I am comfortable where I am would love to stay with this organization because they have made me feel a part of their team. This has been one of the greatest feelings I could have at this point of the practicum experience. I know they are happy for me to be there as summer is coming up and their full-time staff are taking vacations, so our extra hands are welcomed and needed. I wish my classmates could share some of the great things we do at my organization and I am sure they feel the same way about theirs.

Well, here I am…feeling inspired by my surroundings and choices I have made. Here are some of my favourite quotes, I hope it will inspire some of you:

“If we did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.” – Thomas Edison

“Be reckless enough to gamble all or nothing to follow your dreams” – John Gauiano

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” – Winston Churchill

I leave it here for now. I hope you enjoyed the read and if any questions for myself please leave a comment below.

Thanks for reading!

We want to congratulate Hana on completing the Community Support Worker program! It’s been a hard few months, but she has done well and we wish her the best of luck on the next chapter of her career and life.
