I am interested in becoming a registered psychiatric nurse practitioner and I need to become a registered psychiatric nurse first. Can you get employment with a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing or do you at least need a bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing to get your first job as a registered psychiatric nurse?

        Hello Michael,

You can become a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in British Columbia after you have completed our Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, met competence requirements, passed the registration exam and consented to a criminal record check. A Bachelor’s degree is not mandatory to work as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.

If you have any other questions about this program, please feel free to call us at our toll-free number: 1-877-836-2374.

        Thank you!

Is there a bridging program at Stenberg College to transition from a LPN to RPN? Could you please send information for the psychiatric nursing program?
      Thank you.
