Stenberg College is designated by the BC government’s Ministry of Advanced Education through the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB)
. PTIB is responsible for setting standards of quality and ensuring consumer protection. Stenberg College has also received the BC government’s Education Quality Assurance (EQA)
designation, which is BC’s brand or “seal” of quality post-secondary education for public and private institutions. This program is also approved by the Registrar.
This Health Care Assistant Certificate is accredited and recognized in BC. The program has been granted a full, five-year recognition status by the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry (CACHWR), which means program graduates are eligible for registration with the Registry. To be eligible to work as an HCA in any publicly funded health care setting in British Columbia, applicants must be registered with the Registry.
The BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry reviews and recognizes Health Care Assistant (HCA) programs in BC to ensure that they are:
- Following the provincial curriculum
- Implementing a common set of training standards
- Graduating competent front-line health care providers
Confirming that HCAs meet registration requirements is integral to the Registry’s mandate of patient protection and improved standards of care.
